I'm back! And Boho Backgrounds...

Whew! I made it back from the stamping/scrapbooking retreat late yesterday and am very tired. We had a BLIZZARD in Ohio! 20 inches of snow and Level 3 snow emergencies in the county where my retreat was held (no one allowed on the roads or you will be ticketed) and snow drifts up to the roof of the building. But it was so absolutely beautiful to see the snow falling, the snow on the trees and the unspoiled landscape all around.

The retreat workers were SO great...they were stranded, too! They brought food to us so we didn't have to walk over to the cafeteria...cleared off our buried cars...moved the cars so they could plow off the parking lot...then cleared the sidewalks down to cement so we could wheel all our stuff back out to load the cars. Meanwhile, we stayed nice and snug in the lodge with the fireplace going all weekend...it was awesome! I was able to get lots of things done and you'll be seeing them over the next few days! Need to get them photographed. The best part is meeting up with friends again that I only see two times a year at these retreats. Of course, I always take too much stuff with me and only get 1/2 of what I take done...even with all that time!

This is one of the 3D items I made for the Leadership Displays. I used the Boho Backgrounds stamp set. I wanted the medallion to look and feel like leather, so I used Really Rust, Creamy Caramel inks direct to paper, then stamped the medallion in Basic Brown over top. I then covered it with Versamark and clear embossing powder. Turned out pretty neat and looks a lot like leather! It is hard to tell, but I used two acrylic frames and tied them together using ribbon. I punched the holes on the frames with the Crop-A-Dile tool. The paper is cut from the retired Outlaw paper, but you could easily substitute the new Western Sky paper for the same look. The medallion is actually adhered with dimensionals to the outside of the frame, while the paper and cardstock is slipped inside the frame where the photo would normally be held. After I sent this in, I thought I should have used mini brads instead of staples on the calendar...oh well!

I've not heard from our Blog Candy winner, Catherine, yet! So if I don't hear from her by tomorrow afternoon, I'll be pulling a new number for someone to win that Blog Candy! Check back!

And the Winner is......

Thank you all for commenting on my Blogaversary!!! It truly has been a FAST year. And I've been so blessed with all of you who visit regularly!

So...the winner of the Blog Candy is.....

Happy Blogaversary :)! I love spring because the air seems to be fresher, I can go on more walks with the kids without bundling them up to the nines. To only then undress them so they can run to the bathroom, even though they claim they have gone before they put their gear on. Lol, anyways thank you for this chance at some great blog candy :)!
Hugs,catherine

Catherine...drop me an email with your mailing address and I'll get it shipped out on Monday.

I'm headed to a LONG weekend stamping/scrapping retreat. About 40 of us go twice a year and have SO much fun and get so many great ideas! I'll have tons of things to post when I get back. This is always my time to experiment and try new things because I can work in a block of time to finish it and not worry about classes coming up.

Looks like we are in the path of another BIG snow storm. I'm glad I'll be tucked up at the Lodge with no reason to go out...

Have a great weekend!

Today I finished my Christmas cards (I had run out of Basic Grey paper), stamped the greeting and my name on the back...all I need to do now is address them and write our Christmas letter. Yes, I'm one of those that does a letter to fill everyone in on the Babbert happenings during the year. So many of our relatives live out of town or we only see once a year, it is nice to get them caught up all at once!

Tomorrow I have free to stamp ALL day! Yeah! I'm finishing up my Display Maker work for Stampin' Up! Soon will have that task off my desk..yeah!

BLOG CANDY!!!! 40,000 hits!

Oh my gosh, everyone! We FLEW by 40,000 hits on my Blog! I can't believe it...thank you SO much for visiting. I hope I'm giving you lots of ideas. It is the season for being thankful, so I'm going to put together a Blog Candy package to give away! Now...to be honest...I knew I was getting close to 40,000, but I have procrastinated putting any thought into what I would give away. I promise I'll put together a sweet little package for you! Hopefully I can get a picture up tomorrow. But, in order to win this blog candy, I'd like you to post a comment about something that you are grateful for...I'll choose a random winner on Sunday, November 18th!

Here is another Star Box I made...this one a little shorter than yesterday's box. I happen to like it a little shorter. Someone asked if I would make a lid for them when I gave them away. No, I probably won't make a lid, but I will stamp some tissue paper to hang out above the box. I used Cutie Pie paper on this one (I HOPE this stays in the new catalog!) The DSP is layered onto the Saffron Cardstock...making it less bulky than the one I made yesterday. These are a LOT of fun to make!

I used Ginormous Flowers in Purely Pomegranate, punched with the 1 3/8" circle, then punched the Scallop Circle punch from Wild Wasabi, and used the Round Tab punch to make my circle for behind the Scallop punch...in the center is a little pink Rhinestone brad! Enjoy!

BLOG CANDY!!!

Oh my gosh! 20,000 FLEW by me overnight...by several hundred! Thanks to you all for stopping in and checking my Blog out. I do appreciate you...and I love seeing your comments and that counter number go up! lol! At least that way I know someone out there is reading my ramblings...

So.....here is a little Blog Candy I'm offering up! I'll include a couple surprise things, too! First is an unmounted The World Over stamp set...a last year's hostess prize, so if you missed out on it last year, you are getting a second chance! And, a shadow box frame that I altered...inside used to be an ugly elephant picture! I switched it out with the image from Season of Joy...lots of sparkle on it! I think it turned out cute! I'm thinking I'll make up some of these for a craft show I'm doing in October!

OK...now how do you get the Blog Candy? How about leaving me a comment telling me your favorite Christmas/Holiday set in the Fall-Winter big catalog or the Holiday Mini catalog and why! I'll use random.org to give me a random number with the winner on Friday, Sept. 14th @ 9:00 AM! Good Luck!!!

TAG - YOU'RE IT!

Over the past week or so, I've also been tagged several times! I did this a couple months ago, but I'll play along again! I am to mention 7 things you probably don't know about me...

1. I used to sell crafts at the fall Craft Shows. Things I have sold over the years...
  • painted sweatshirts
  • 3 foot tall "dolls" made from tomato cages and jumbo paper twist...I did witches, angels, bunnies, carolers, Santa's, snowmen, his and her pilgrims, bride and grooms (I have a funny picture of 20 angels stuffed into the back of my van!)
  • Stiffy bows and baskets
  • ornaments
  • fabric items...bibs, baby quilts, etc.

2. I worked as a manager for the telephone company for 20 years and I took an early retirement when I was 38.

3. I love to play the quarter slot machines in Las Vegas and usually am pretty lucky.

4. I've been married for 28 years this September. I married when I was a BABY! lol!

5. I drive a candy apple red 2006 Nissan Murano SUV and LOVE it!

6. My wedding colors were Brown and Peach (and those colors are BACK!) lol!

7. Hot fudge sundaes are my FAVORITE ice cream treat!

Since I think everyone and their brother has done this tag game, I'm just going to leave it that if you have NOT done it on your blog...you're IT! lol!
